When first looking at one of Anne Neilson’s angel paintings you can’t help but feel at peace. Then, after meeting her you can’t help but feel truly inspired by not only her incredible talent but also by her compassionate heart.
Bonne Nuit received a phone call in the fall from Anne. A Jacksonville native, who now calls Charlotte, North Carolina her home, is a family friend of the owner. She was excited to share her good news that she had turned her series of angel paintings and the stories behind them into a book, Angels in Our Midst. She asked if we would be interested in taking a look and possibly selling it in the store. We said of course and placed a small order. The response to the book was amazing and we immediately knew that Angels in Our Midst was something very special.
With the success of her book, Anne agreed to return home to Jacksonville to visit the store for a book signing. During the event, Anne was able to see personally how her book had touched several people in the area. She was able to connect with a woman currently going through chemotherapy treatments who drew inspiration from the positive messages. She met another woman who had lost a child to cancer and was comforted by an angel painting Anne had done for a friend who had lost a son to a tragic accident. It was inspiring to all to see how an artist’s work can reach people and provide them with peace during a difficult time.
My favorite quote in the book is by the artist, Edgar Degas. He states, “Art is not what you see but what you make others see.” Anne not only creates art for others to see but to also inspire those though life’s journeys.
Angels in Our Midst is available for purchase for $70 each at Bonne Nuit.
